Governance of Lies?
In prose fiction, I remember Silas Marner exclaimed in desperation: “ There is no just god that governs that earth righteously, but a god of lies that bears false witness against the innocent”.
We are now afraid that what used to be fiction has now become a fact.
Battered by unmitigated corruption by our leaders in our supposed “government” – which continues to defy containment and effective solution – a great majority of our impoverished brothers may now say: “There is no just system that governs our society righteously, but a system of lies and deception that has ruined the lives of the innocent”.
This is popular perception in this country, and it has come as a matter of educated conclusion of fact. So sad, but apparently true!

In Valencia town, for instance: There are 35 barangays in that jurisdiction. When congressional aspirant Arthur Yap, using his powers as Department of Agriculture Secretary, distributed DA funds to all barangays, especially in the 3rd District whose congressional seat he wants to occupy, only 33 barangays in Valencia received the doleout. Why? Accordingly the Mayor in that town submitted only this number of barangays and excluded barangays Poblacion and Canmanico. Why? Most probably because the leaders and constituents of these two barangays are openly anti-administration.
Submitting only 33 instead of 35 is downright falsehood. Excluding the two barangays in the doleout, for political reasons, is downright oppression.
So, conclusion: in that town, there is governance of lies – resulting in oppression. This is no genuine government!
PNP checkpoints were set up on January 10 – start of the Comelec gun ban (which is effective until June 9) – to check carrying of firearms by unaunthorized persons, in order to give effect to the gun ban.
But, why were motocycles seized and impounded, not for carrying of firearms, but for traffic violations. Deception, again?

According to Gov. Aumentado, initially, the much-heralded “Panglao International Airport” would be finished before the end of his term. Later, the commitment has down-graded thus: it would be started before the end of his term.
Now, his term is nearing its end, but the airport project has not taken off the ground.
We may gues it right: that there would be no Panglao Airport after all.
Deception, again, political ends?

For a “thousand and one reasons”, prices of goods and services are on the rise, as election draws near.
Power rate has increased effective last December, in the guise of “missionary charge”, and the increase is expected to generate more than P5 billion. As usual, the given reasons are a broken record, acceptable only to the “marines”.
Then, despite continuing rice importations and sufficient local harvest, price increases in rice varieties – including that of the NFA – have been announced to come shortly. Similarly, the reasons are a fairy tale.
The real reason we know is fund-raising for the coming 2010 elections. Meaning: government agencies are programmed to increase their revenues, so that, by the usual modes of corruption through paper work, these funds would be channeled to the campaign chest of favored candidates.
The poor taxpayers are bled to death, so that our corrupt officials in “government” can have all their selfish ways.
Again, governance of deception, of lies!
GOD SAVE US!!!
