Comelec issues certified list of candidates Official bets
THE Commission on Elections (Comelec) recently wrote finish to the raging issue of party representation in the 2nd congressional district of Bohol.
Under Comelec Resolution 10-0042, the Comelec directed the Law Department to cause the publication of the certified list of candidates for the May 2010 national and local elections.
In the certified list of candidates, Gov. Erico Aumentado is listed as the official bet of Lakas-Kampi while Trinidad Mayor Judith Cajes is listed as an independent.
Apart from Aumentado and Cajes, the other congressional bets for the district are Rolando Manatad under Partido ng Masang Pilipino (PMP) and Danilo Mendez under Liberal Party.
For national positions, the certified list will be published in 2 newspapers of general circulation and posted in the Comelec website while those for local positions will only be posted in the Comelec website to cut on costs.
Under the resolution, any misspelling or omission of names of the candidates or an error in the entry of information in the Certified List of Candidates must be reported to the Law Department within five (5) days from the date of publication/posting.
The Law Department shall then enter the necessary correction in its Candidates Information Management System (CIMS) and generate a hard copy for its own file, and thereafter, shall transmit the changes to the Information Technology Department.
In the provincial level, the Comelec also listed 5 contenders: Eunice Cabillo Campo under PGRP, Edgar Chatto under Lakas-Kampi, Julius Caesar Herrera under NP, Cesar Montano under LP and Jetur Ramada as an independent.
In the vice governatorial contest, the poll body listed 4 personalities: Tomas Abapo Jr. under NP, Cresencio Alturas, an independent, Elpedio Jala under LP and Conching Lim under Lakas-Kampi.
Political observers meanwhile said that the contentious representation issue in the 2nd district is finally put to rest with the.
A source told the TIMES that there is no more doubt now as to who between Aumentado and Cajes is the official and the independent candidate.
Aumentado meanwhile expressed elation following the publication of the certified list of candidates in the May 2010 elections.
