A GOVERNATORIAL candidate in Bohol is behind moves to block progress of the stalled Panglao Island Airport Project.
Governor Erico Aumentado revealed this on Friday after making his clarifications on the accusations hurled by Cong. Edgar Chatto, who is running for governor under the admin Lakas-Kampi party.
Aumentado said he was informed that the governatorial candidate wanted the works on the Panglao airport project to start only during his term.
He did not identify the governatorial candidate but he was obviously referring to Chatto.
During his weekly radio program, Aumentado was asked about the progress of the ambitious airport project.
The governor said he has deliberately distanced himself from the proceedings of the bids and awards committee because he did not want any insinuations of rigged bidding.
And besides, he stressed, the province of Bohol has nothing to do with the bidding process.
He said that when he inquired about the progress of the project, he was informed of the involvement of the Bohol governatorial candidate to block the project.
On the same occasion, the governor also revealed about an unconfirmed report that Chatto’s group may be going backdoor with the Liberal Party thru a common friend who is a senator whom Chatto helped in the last elections.
If true, the governor said, LP governatorial bet Cesar Montano should better be wary.
Aumentado repeatedly invoked the “Be Honest” slogan as he attacked Chatto’s penchant to utter “wa ko kabalo” (I don’t know) even when it was obvious that he knew or should have known.
